![]() Companies don't understand that internet whining mobs are always just tiny minorities of very loud whiners. ![]() To these people, it's all about ruining the youtuber's ability to make a living on the internet and since advertisers are not smart and tech savvy people, the "Loud Minority" of whiners ends up winning every single fucking time. The worst part is that to these people, it's not even about the ass pull "association" with the youtuber. Here's what changed : customers have increased sense of entitlement because all it takes is a single angry person and companies can become the subject of massive online anger mobs. You can see diapers adverts all fucking day on TV channels that will play actual porn at night, and it's been that way for years now. I know some might think "yeah but advertisers don't want to be associated with a website that plays violent / sexual / political content" to which I can only reply with : BULLSHIT. ![]() Surely political commentary videos could be monetized with ads from companies that don't give a crap about suddenly being the target of a hate mob after some angry democrats saw their ad in front of a video that speaks positively of Donald Trump. I mean surely YouTube as a whole would make more money by allowing videos with violent content to play appropriate ads beforehand, instead of outright preventing those ads from running on the website. So what the heck does "Ad Friendly" means? Since when are advertisers literally only family friendly product company? Where are all the "Hot babes in your area" adverts for youtube? Where are all the violent game adverts? Where are all the companies who don't give a single shit if some angry letter writing mom tries to stir up controversy after she noticed that her kid watched one of their ads? I go on the shithole of the internet and I see ads at the top and bottom of the page right next to some of the most questionable content you can find online. I'm playing this shitty mobile game and what do you know! Every couple minutes I have to watch a minute long advert. ![]() How can this be a valid reason why certain content ends up demonetized? Are ALL advertisers just family friendly happy go lucky companies who refuse to advertise on any content above PG-13? Oh wait, I'm on a porn website and for some reason I got ads on the side. Every video has a "report" button anyone can use and if the video is reported enough it can be removed. It's not only illegal things that are an issue, but also things that can offend someone. If someone takes offense in something or something goes against some rule, even if it's an hypocritical rule, it's very easy to report the content and have it removed. That's why for example Mortal Kombat 11 content is currently having issues on Youtube due to the algorithm flagging it as real violence. Third, I believe Youtube is still subject to content rating systems, meaning it has to restrict by age content pertaining certain topics. Youtube has since then created the Ad Friendly Content system that can um monetize or even remove content that isn't "Ad Friendly". Second, the advertisers also tell Youtube what they want and do not want to be associated with their products. It needs to follow rules of every single country it's available on (basically every country someone can pay Google to show an add on Youtube) or risk being blocked in that country. First of all, Youtube is an international service. ![]()
